Alan Hough on disability regulation

‘Regulating disability services: the case of Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme quality and safeguarding system’ is PaW Director Alan Hough’s latest article examining NDIS regulation in an international context.

Published in Research and Practice in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities on September 1 2021, Hough argues that more research is required on the relationship between various types of regulation and people with disabilities’ quality of life. He examines the trade-offs inherent in regulatory design and concludes that while regulation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme has been designed with care, research on how these complex regulations are being implemented in practice is urgently needed.
